Holistic Solutions Explored At International Education Conference

We were present at the international Soul in Education Conference recently held in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, to help explore holistic approaches to education. Besides the international visitors, the conference was supported by educators, members of the public and senior officials of the KZN Department of Education, as well as by academics from three South African universities. 

Since July 2003 Hytec has actively supported a rural KZN high school called Gobindlovu High School. We channel our support through a Pietermaritzburg-based educational support network known as Schooltrade. We also sponsored Mr Mbali Nkabini, principal of Gobindlovu High, to attend the final day of the conference. Nkabini felt that the conference was very beneficial. He said that it was easy to forget the emotional and spiritual needs of learners in the midst of a busy academic programme. In his view, the conference had been a practical reminder of the importance of placing the learner before the programme.
