Bosch Rexroth Innovates With High Pressure Pump And HFC Fluids

Bosch Rexroth, locally represented by the Hytec Group, now offers the latest range of its tried and tested A4VSO high pressure pump series to provide the advantages of using HFC fluids, combined with a long service life.

“HFC fluids consist of a solution of polymers in water and are classified as ‘flame retardant.’ Thanks to the new bearing concept and a specifically designed shaft seal, Bosch Rexroth can compensate for the wear-promotiong properties of water solutions. In addition, Bosch Rexroth has been able to reduce cavitation that can occur during operation with hydraulic fluids containing water,” explains Freddie Kühn, Operations Manager, Hytec Johannesburg.

The latest version of the A4VSO high pressure pump designed for use with HFC fluids offers the same performance data as the variant designed for mineral oil. Systems operated with HFC media can do with smaller hydraulic components. This has a favourable effect on the purchase price, operating cost and installation space requirements. Bosch Rexroth now maintains the service life and the performance data of the pump for fluid systems operated with HFC at the very high level of the A4VSO pumps designed for use with mineral oil.

This innovation works especially well for hydraulic systems in steelworks, presses, the mining sector, the shipbuilding industry and offshore applications.
