All gearboxes repaired at Hytec’s facility in
Johannesburg are subjected to rigorous
inspection and function testing, including leak
and pressure tests.

As the only Bosch Rexroth Certified Service Centre of Competence (CSC-C) in Africa, Hytec offers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) peace of mind with a mobile gearbox repair facility that is guaranteed to comply with strict manufacturer standards.

“We offer the repair facility to our customers as part of our commitment to quality service. OEMs who use this facility are assured of superior workmanship and enjoy the benefit of the more than two decades of experience we have in this field,” explains André Lindeque, Engineering Manager Hytec.

Although the actual repair of a gearbox is not a lengthy process, the availability of spares and the waiting period to acquire stock impact heavily on the period it takes to deliver a repaired gearbox to its owner. In some cases, this can take up to a year. Hytec remanufactures the gearbox completely, no chroming or welding of old parts are done. In addition, strict inspection of all parts for hairline cracks is part of the service.

The repairs can be carried out either on-site, especially in the case of very large or heavy gearboxes, or at Hytec’s 400m² facility in Johannesburg. Hytec also boasts a 1 000m² storage facility.

“Customers who use our repair service are guaranteed that no shortcuts are taken, that only genuine parts as specified by the manufacturer are used and that the gearboxes are subjected to rigorous inspection and function testing, including leak and pressure tests, before they leave our premises. We offer a one-year guarantee on all repairs undertaken. In addition, we document all repairs for future reference and also provide feedback to gearbox manufacturers for improvement of their products,” says Lindeque.

As a CSC-C, Hytec technicians have controlled access to Bosch Rexroth documentation via the Internet, and they receive on-the-job training from German experts when needed. Representatives of Hytec also pay regular visits to gearbox manufacturers overseas to stay abreast of any new developments in this field.
