High pressure valve control block

In the commercial vehicles sector, modern hydraulic drive and control technology
has to meet high expectations regarding flexibility and versatility. M4 – a high
pressure control valve from Rexroth, available from Hytec, offers all advantages
of modern valve technology and due to its great flexibility, is used in many
different applications namely commercial and municipal vehicles bodies.
The Rexroth M4 is a sandwich-type valve with up to 10 valve elements beside an
inlet and an end element, and is available in both open and closed centre
systems. The integrated pressure compensators and the load-sensing-pressure
control allow every actuator to be independently controlled from the load for
every actuator port. This guarantees ease of operation and reliable control.
The load-sensing blocks from the M4-series are available in sizes 12 and 15 for
inlet flows of 150 l/min or 200 l/min. The ratings for the maximum outlet-flow
on the actuator side are 100 l/min and 150 l/min, including a pressure
compensator and a load hold function. The pressure range is 350 bars on the pump
side and 420 bars on the actuator side.
Optimised loading and unloading systems are designed with open centre inlet
units with the M4 valve block permitting sensitive proportional control of the
individual loads. The actuating system can be mechanically, hydraulically or
electro-hydraulically controlled and contains an emergency cut-off valve, which can be
integrated into the inlet unit.
Regarding modern actuating systems, built-in electronic units for analogue
(voltage or PWM signal) and digital signals (CAN-bus) are available. The modular
design of the on-board-electronic unit can be combined with other actuating
systems. If CAN-bus control is used, a daisy-chain wiring is possible. Time
functions, as well as shape and gradient of the characteristic curve, can be
modified directly via CAN-bus. For example, a linear or progressive
characteristic curve may be selected for an automatic function to suit the
operating situation.
For special applications, as for example dump trucks, the M4-valve can be
combined with a compact hydraulic valve. The Rexroth compact hydraulic systems
are designed to follow a “Plug&Play” principle. Optimisation includes a minimum
number of standardised cavities and guarantees a vast array of valve functions.
Modular technology is characterised by ease of maintenance, permitting component
level or “block” level exchanges in the field. With the possibility of this
combination, field serviceability, cost rationalisation, and quality standards
can be reached.
